Last Revised: Apr 16th, 2026
Event Description
Do you know the basic rules of proper tree pruning technique? Where to prune, what needs pruning, and why are you pruning? You should always have a goal. Learn how to identify and find a branch collar, how to subordinate limbs, and how trees react to pruning at different times of the year, as well as the various environmental conditions; all can affect the health and longevity of your trees. Join us for the workshop with Dave Leonard, Board Certified Master Arborist, to learn the basics of pruning your trees for successful outcomes.
This event will begin with a 1 hour presentation in The Arboretum visitor center, followed by a hands-on demonstration on The Arboretum grounds. Please dress for the weather and be prepared to spend time outdoors during this event.
